Archives & Historical Documents
The Carroll County Circuit Court Clerk's Office maintains records dated all the way back to 1839 prior to the formation of the County of Carroll in 1842.   As a court of record, citizens rely heavily on records kept in the office for many various reasons, such as ancestry/genealogical work, title research, and general historical research of the rich history of the County of Carroll and its population.

Carroll County Circuit Court continously strives to work closely with the Carroll County Historical Society and Museum, and the Carroll County Genealogy Club in efforts to preserve and protect our valued history and heritage of Carroll County.

The Library of Virginia continuously provides tremendous assistance to the Carroll County Circuit Court Clerk's Office with archival inventory work, preservation efforts through the Circuit Court Records Preservation Program, and digitizing our historic chancery records and other significant historical documents through the Chancery Records Index and special collections, such as the Virginia Untold

Our office is very grateful for the numerous and consistent volunteeers and workers through the Carroll County Historical Society,  the Carroll County Genealogy Club, student interns, Mount Rogers IDC, and People, Inc. that help us preserve and protect our rich history.
